Rules of the tournament

The Tournament will be played by the rules of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association for the age of U13 with the following adjustments: 
 

1.     Game time

Game time is 2 x 15 min stop time, max 50 min total time per game. Intermission is 1 min between periods. The calculation of the total time starts at the time which is marked on the program. 

Timeout is not allowed in the tournament.

Teams mus be ready near the correct rink, 5 min before the time on the schedule. Should the team not be ready in due time they will lose the game 5-0.

The game starts immediately with starting line ups, no warm up on ice. 

 

2.     Ranking order and point system

The ranking of the team in a group is determined by the amount of points acquired. For a win a team receives two (2) points, for a draw one (1) point and for a loss zero (0) points. In case two or more teams finish with the same number of points after the group stage, the final ranking will be based on: 

a.      Points

b.      Points in head-to-head games 

c.      Goal difference in head-to-head games  

d.      Goals scored in head-to-head games

e.      Goal difference in the preliminary round

f.       Total goals scored in preliminary round

g.      Penalty minutes (lower is better)

h.      Lottery

 

3.    Play-offs


If a play-off match is a draw after game time is finished, shootout will follow.

a.     Shootout will be performed with 3 players/ team. Coach will tell the names to referees, directly after the game time is over.

b.      If the game is still tied after three shots, players will shoot penalty shots one by one after each other, this time in a sudden-death situation. All bench players are entitled to attempt one (1) shot , also the previous 3 players, if necessary. Each team has an equal number of chances to shoot before a winner is declared. 

c.      The starting team for the penalty shots is the visitor team.

d.      Only the decisive goal will be marked on the game sheet.

 

4.     Rosters and Jerseys

Only players registered on the tournament website are allowed to play. Player can only play for 1 team during the tournament. 

If a goalie is injured, team is allowed to borrow a goalie from another team. For a borrowed goalie to be allowed to play in a playoff game, he/she has had to play at least 1 round robin game in the tournament. 

Over age players allowed according to rules of Finnish Ice Hockey Association.

Home team will play in dark jerseys and visitor team in light jerseys. If a team has only 1 set of jerseys, they should contact the opponent team latest 30 min before the game 

5.     Referees

Tournament organizers have no control over appointing the referees to the tournament or to a certain game, referees are appointed by the Finnish Referee Association. 

6.     Protest

All protests are handled by the Tournament Jury. Jury consists of the tournament director and the referee of the game. The decision of the jury is final. The fee for a protest is 200 euros, which will be returned should the protest be accepted. The protest should be in writing, signed by the manager of the team and made no later than 10 minutes after the game has ended.

 

7.    Right to amendments

Tournament office has the right to amend schedules. 

8.     Insurance

All players and team staff must have valid adequate insurance. Tournament is not responsible for any injuries that may occur to players or staff of any team.
