The tournament format is a series of games:
1) Each team will play at least 6 games against the others teams. There will be two special games on Sunday afternoon that do not count towards tournament standings.
2) Winner of the game is awarded 2 points, loser none. The game can end even, in which case both teams are awarded 1 point each.
3) Based on the above game results, teams are arranged into one table.
4) In the case of two or multiple teams are tied with points, the order is decided by in the order of:
- goal difference (goals made vs. goals allowed), higher the score difference, higher the ranking
- number of wins during the tournament
- winner of the game between the teams
- in the above does not yield a difference between the teams, they share the tournament standing
The teams will be awarded as follows:
- Each player will receive a Tournament Medal
- Team Trophy’s for all placements – 1st – 8th
- Fair Play Team – team with least penalty minutes – in the case of tie between teams, Jury will decide.
- Most Valuable Player (MVP), one for each team (total 8).
The right to participate to the tournament is with the players coming the team that have been invited to the tournament and are born on 2004 or later. Each player can present only on the team during the tournament. The players must be registered into the tournament record and signed by the general manager at the tournament office.
Each team is responsible for the licenses and all insurances for the players and their team. Organizers are not carrying any insurances on behalf of the participating players or teams. By participating into the tournament, the teams release the organizers, ice hockey field, Tappara and any other party involved with the tournament from any liability of what so ever as well as from the any direct or indirect consequential damages.
Main principle is that, home team in the chart plays with darker game jersey and away team with lighter jersey. In the case the team has only one type of jersey, please inform the other team well in advance to allow time for changes.
Each game will have 2 * 20 minutes periods, with 1 minute interval. Game time is straight, that means the clock is running continuously. No time outs are allowed. The teams do not change sides during the intermission.
All the participating teams, their players, coaches and supporters are expected to respect the safety of the participating junior players. Therefore, please enforce the safe gamesmanship with your team members.
According to Finnish Ice Hockey Association (FIHA) Rules, full contact hockey is not allowed for E2 level juniors. Especially, tackle is NOT allowed according to these rules. This will be strictly enforced by the referees.
Referees will enforce the game rules and their decision is final. Normal penalty times will apply (e.g. 2 min, 5 min, etc.). Penalty time will start when the game starts after the penalty has been assigned. With the delayed penalty, it is allowed to remove the goalie and replace him with a player.
- In the case, the same player gets three penalties during the same game, the player will be banned from the rest of the game.
- A ten-minute misconduct penalty is carried out normally in the penalty box. If a player gets two ten minute penalties during one game or the player gets a major penalty (5+20 min), or 20 min with unsportsmanlike conduct) he is automatically banned from the next game.
- If a player receives a match penalty (25 min), he is automatically banned from the tournament.
Tackle is penalized offence according to the rules.
In order to maximize game time, no players are allowed to enter the field from the bench. Intent is continue game in fast manner.
Injured players are moved immediately away from the ice field to the bench area to receive support.
The organizer of the tournament has NOT insured players, and is NOT responsible for participating players, team staff or spectators for any injuries or accidents occurring during the games. The team’s general manager is responsible to ensure that each player of the team has a proper license and insurance in place. Furthermore, each coach and the active staff members of a team must carry a license/insurance.
Meal service will be available at the canteen at the ice arena. In addition to the players, the team staff and coaches can order the meals in advance and eat with the players. All meals need to be ordered in advance from the organizer.
Additionally, there will be café type service in the hockey arena as well a grill outside of the arena.
Schedule for the meals for the team will be provided at the start of the event. Due to size of the tournament, prompt keeping of the schedule is appreciated. Team will have approx. 20 minutes for their meals.
Referees are from Finnish Ice Hockey Referee Association Tampere Chapter (Tampereen Jääkiekkoerotuomarit Ry) and other tournament staff from the organizing team (Tappara) supporters.
All protest are handled by the tournament Jury, whose decision is final. Protests shall be filed in writing within 10 minutes after the end of the match. The protest deposit is 200€, which will be returned if the protest is accepted. The jury consists of the tournament director and two designated members. If necessary, the jury will also hear the match referee. The jury’s decision to approve the protest must be unanimous. The Jury is not obliged to argue its decision(s).
The behavior of the teams, players and staff must be exemplary and in the spirit of fair play. Also, spectators are asked to act supportively and show children a good example. The organizer can remove those who behave inappropriately in the stands from the ice field. For member of staff behaving inappropriately FIHA's competition rules are applied.
Interpretation of the rules is handled by the Jury of the Tournament.
