All games shall be played according to the rules and regulations of the Finnish Ringette Association unless specifically addressed below.
Tournament games will be played 2 x 20 minutes stop time. 3 minute warm up before each game and 1 minute time between the 1st and 2nd half. Each team will be allowed one thirty (30) second time out during the game.
Teams have been divided into 2 pools for round robin play. Each team will play four games within their pool, then play a 5th game against an opponent from the other pool based on the final standings after the completion of round robin play.
Except for the first game of the day, teams must be ready to start their game a maximum of 10 minutes early if the ice is available. Home team has the choice of end to start the game and must choose when they enter the ice surface to start the warmup.
Ice cleaning will be done after each game.
A) A team’s placement in the tournament is determined by the points achieved during their games.
B) Points shall be awarded as follows:
(a) 2 points for a win
(b) 1 point for a tie
(c) 0 points for a loss
C) Ties will stand during all Round Robin games.
D) Ties in standings shall be broken as follows:
(a) Winner of head to head games if applicable.
i) If only two teams are tied in points, if one team beat the other in a game they shall be placed higher.
ii) If three or more teams are tied in points then total points between the teams in these games would be the first tiebreaker. Teams will be placed based on this rule first. Any remaining teams that are still tied will be first broken by the above rules for two teams if it is only two teams left tied. If three or more are still tied then the stats from games between these remaining tied teams will be used to go through rules “b” to “f” to separate the teams.
(b) Most wins.
(c) Highest total of goals for minus goals against.
(d) Highest goals scored.
(e) Team with the least penalty minutes.
(f) Single coin toss
If at any time during the second half of a game one team is ahead by a difference of seven (7) goals or more, running time will commence. Stop time will be restored when the difference is reduced to less than seven (7) goals.
Srandings from round robin play and the tie breaking procedure will be used to determine home team for the games on Sunday.
For the first 3 crossover games on Sunday, ties will stand if that is the result after the end of regulation time.
For the bronze medal game (2nd vs 2nd), if the game is tied at the end of regulation time there will be a 5 minute sudden victory overtime. A coin toss will determine who gets the ring to start the overtime. If the game is still tied there will be a shootout of 3 players per team. After the overtime, team staff will inform the on-ice officials which players will be taking the overtime shots. Home team has the choice to shoot or defend first. If the game is still tied, there will be a sudden victory shootout. Teams must use all skaters on their roster to shoot before any player can be selected a second time. For the sudden victory shootout, the visiting team has the choice to shoot or defend first.
For the championship game (1st vs 1st), if the game is tied at the end of regulation time, there will be sudden victory overtime until a winner is decided. Overtime periods will be 20 minutes. A coin toss will determine who gets the ring to start the overtime. The free pass to start any subsequent overtimes will alternate between the teams.
Any time during the second half of any game, if the official timekeeper feels that the game cannot be completed within the designated time, he will let the Director of the Organizing Committee (or representative for the specific arena) know. It is the sole responsibility of the Director of the Organizing Committee whether game continues in running or stop time. That decision depends on process of each particular game being played. The coaches will be advised in advance before any change of timekeeping.
A team staff member must check their team roster at the tournament office at least 30 minutes before each game of the tournament. Captains/alternate captains (maximum 3) and goalkeeper(s) shall be marked on the game sheet.
Injured players are eligible to be on the bench, at the discretion of team staff, but must be marked “INJ” on the game sheet.
At this time, teams will also confirm their jersey colour and identify if they have an alternate set of jerseys. In case of a colour conflict for a game, the team with an alternate set will be required to change. If both teams have an alternate set, the away team will be required to change. If neither team has an alternate set of jerseys, the tournament committee will provide a set of jerseys for the away team.
Teams are allowed to borrow players and coaches from other teams in the event with the following restrictions:
