Rules

N12

  • Game Time: 2x15 minutes (total time 45 minutes)
  • Age Limits: Always according to the current season's competition rules. For the 2024-2025 season, the N12 age group is for those born in 2013.
  • Player Pass: Each player must have a valid player pass.
  • Overage Players: Not allowed unless they meet the Y-player rule.
    • Teams may include older players if their training and playing routine is not comparable to U13 boys, N15 girls, or higher leagues.
  • Overage player Rule: No limit on the number of overage-players in the lineup.
  • Age Limit for Y-Players: No upper age limit, but the club and team are responsible for ensuring the games are safe for all participants.
  • Approval: All Y-players must be approved by the organizer before confirming the lineup. No exceptions can be applied for.
  • Goalkeepers: Age limits and rules also apply to goalkeepers.
  • Player Borrowing: Players can be borrowed from another team during the tournament if needed.
  • Statistics: Matches are recorded, but no point tables or group standings are published.
  • Results: Results and match events are visible.
  • Placement Matches: Not played; competition occurs in each match under single-match conditions. All participants are awarded.

Tournament Players, Number, and Player Lists

  • Player Limit: No limit on the number of players. Teams can register an unlimited number of licensed players, considering the level, who fit the age group, but a maximum of 20+2 players per game.

Tournament Format and Teams

  • Format: Played on a large rink as a 5vs5 game. The match schedule is created based on the final number of teams.
  • Series Format: Determined by the final number of teams.
  • Match Time: 2x15 minutes of effective playing time. Break 1 min. Total match time max 45 min. No timeouts allowed.
  • Readiness: Teams must be ready with equipment on 5 minutes before the scheduled match time. If a team does not arrive on time, they are deemed to have lost 5-0.

Player List and Jerseys

  • Final Player List: Must be submitted to officials 30 minutes before the team's match.
  • Participation: Only registered players in the registered teams can participate. If team jerseys are the same color, the team listed second in the match schedule (away team) must change unless otherwise agreed.

Referees

  • Officiating: Official referees from Kainuu Ice Hockey Referees Association.

Penalties

  • Rules: Follow SJL's current N12 junior competition and special rules and the IIHF rulebook. Exception: minor penalties last one (1) minute due to shorter playing time.
  • Major Penalties: Possible match penalties are decided by the Tournament Director and the referees who officiated the match.

Awards

  • All Players: Awarded after the team's last match. Each match's best player receives an MVP ring.

Insurance and First Aid

  • Insurance: Each player and official must have valid insurance according to SJL rules. The organizers are not responsible for any accidents involving participating teams. No separate first aid personnel provided by the organizer. Teams are responsible for their own first aid equipment and personnel.

Schedule Changes

  • Organizer's Rights: The organizer has the right to change match schedules, durations, and ice maintenance if necessary. Changes will be communicated promptly to participating teams.

Protest Handling

  • Jury: Consists of the Tournament Director and the referees who officiated the match. The final decision-making power in disputes lies with the Tournament Director. Protests must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of the match's end. The protest fee is 100 euros, refundable if the protest is upheld.

N14/N15
