Tournament rules

Six (6) U15 age group teams will participate in the tournament:

Oulun Kärpät, Black

Oulun Kärpät, White

Oulun Kärpät, Yellow

Kalpa, Kuopio

Lukko, Rauma

Skellefteå AIK

Number of tournament players, player lists:

Players born in 2009 or later. Negotiations for Y-players must be arranged separately with the tournament organizer. Girl players are subject to the valid competition rules of SJL (Finnish Ice Hockey Association). The number of players is not limited. Teams can register an unlimited number of players with a valid game pass, considering their skill level, who, due to their age, can fit into the team, however, a maximum of 22+2 players for each match.

Main rules:

The tournament follows the current competition and junior rules of SJL, with exceptions specified in these rules.

The tournament jury does not handle referee reports; these are directed to the disciplinary officer of the respective team's area.

Tournament Format:

The tournament is played as a simple series, where each team plays against other teams once. In the series, a win earns two (2) points, a tie earns one (1) point, and a loss earns zero (0) points.

The ranking of teams in the series is determined based on the points earned.

In case of tied points, the ranking of each team is determined as follows, in this order:

Match Time:

In the tournament, match duration is 3 X 20 minutes for Friday and Saturday games, totaling 120 minutes of running time. For Sunday games, match duration is 3 X 15 minutes, totaling 90 minutes of running time.

Intermissions:

For Friday and Saturday games:

10 minutes after the 1st period (icing) 10 minutes after the 2nd period (icing)

For Sunday games:

3 minutes after the 1st period 10 minutes after the 2nd period (icing)

Zamboni resurfacing after each match

No timeouts are allowed

Teams must be present with their equipment on and ready to start the match, five (5) minutes before the scheduled match time. If a team doesn't arrive on time, they will be considered to have lost the match 5-0.

Player roster and jerseys:

The team listed first in the schedule is the home team and plays in darker jerseys, while the visiting team wears lighter jerseys unless agreed otherwise.

The final player roster must be provided to the officials 30 minutes before the team's match.

Awards:

The top three teams will be awarded medals, and the winning team of the tournament will receive a trophy.

Insurance and First Aid:

Every player and staff member must have a valid SJL-approved game pass. The tournament organizers are not responsible for any accidents involving participating teams. First aid personnel will be available at the ice rink.

Referees:

The games will be officiated by referees from Oulun Jääkiekkoerotuomarit ry (Oulu Ice Hockey Referees Association).

Penalties / Match Penalties:

For penalties, SJL's competition rules will be followed. Major penalties may result in match penalties, leading to a player's removal from tournament matches. According to SJL's competition rules, a suspension can only be served in league matches. Therefore, a player is suspended until the penalty is served in a league match.

Schedule Changes:

The tournament organizer has the right to change match schedules, durations, resurfacing times, and other related arrangements as necessary for the tournament.

Handling Protests:

The tournament jury consists of the Tournament Director and the referees of the match. The final decision authority in case of disputes lies with the Tournament Director. Protests must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of the end of the game. The protest fee is 100 euros, which will be refunded if the protest is deemed valid.
