Lions Cup BR Spring Tournament 15.-16.4.2023 – Rules
1. Tournament rules
The games shall be played according to the rules and regulations of the Finnish Ringette Association including the additions and clarifications below. The tournament will be played in 2 series: U16 (players born in 2007 or 2008 or later) and U19 (players born in 2004, 2005 or 2006 or later).
2. Order of the games
U16: There are 4 teams in the tournament. Teams will play according to the tournament schedule: 4 games per team. A team gets 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
U19: There are 4 teams in the tournament. Teams will play according to the tournament schedule: 4 games per team. A team gets 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
If two or more teams are tied after round robin, the following rules will apply:
1. The result of head-to-head game
2. The goal difference of the round
3. Scored goals
4. Team with less penalty minutes
5. Flip of a coin
3. Game time
U16 and U19: A preliminary round game and a standing game lasts 2 x 20 minutes (stop-clock-timing), but maximum 60 minutes. Visitor team will start the game. When the total game time is ending, the last 6, 4 and 2 minutes will be announced.
PLEASE NOTICE! If the total game time ends in the standing game and there is under two minutes stop-clock timing left, the game will be played to the end according to the stop-clock-timing.
If a standing game ends in a tie after total game time or maximum game time, there will be 5 minutes extra time with sudden death. The extra time will be played in stop-clock-timing. The team which will begin the extra time, will be drawn. If a game for standing ends in a tie after extra time, a shootout competition will take place.
Both teams must immediately name first player for shooting competition in writing to the referee (a player cannot participate in the shootout if she is in the penalty box, when the game time ends). The team which will begin the shootout, will be drawn. The team which will win the draw, may choose the beginner. If the teams are still tied after that, one shooter per team will continue. The shooter must be a different player every time.
The team which leads after the shoots are even, is the winner.
The length of intermission is one minute in every game. On time-out per team is allowed in the standing games.
4. Penalties
U16 and U19: small penalty 2 minutes and big penalty 4 minutes. Penalties are stop-clock-timing.
5. Game records
A team manager has to check each game record (game sheet) at the tournament office at least 30 minutes before the game starts according to the schedule.
6. Starting the games
Teams must be ready to go on ice and to start the game five (5) minutes before the starting time mentioned in the game schedule, to get the games started according to the game schedule. If the team breaks this rule, it can be judged to lose the game by 7 - 0.
The jury of the tournament has the right to change the game schedule and timetables if compulsory reasons demand to do so.
7. Settling the game reports and the protests, jury of the tournament
The task of the jury is to settle the game reports and the protests done during the tournament and to rule decisions concerning the tournament. The jury can also send the handled game report or protest for further handling to the Finnish Ringette Association.
A written protest concerning a game, must be left to the tournament office max. 30 minutes after the end of the game. Other notifications or protests concerning something other than games can be left in writing for the jury during the tournament.
The fee of a protest is 100 euros.
The jury's power to make decisions does not concern only the actions in the rink. The jury has the responsibility to interfere during the whole tournament also in other offenses and misbehaviors, if one party is a player or an official.
The jury consists of
• the representatives of the tournament organizer (2 persons)
• a representative of referees.
The precise composition of the jury and contact details will be available at the tournament office during the tournament.
8. Ice Cards
Each player and each official attending the games in the tournament, must have a valid Ice Card. Proof of the valid Ice Card must be available for checking in the tournament.
Permits of exception given by the Finnish Ringette Association are valid on the tournament. The tournament organizer may also accept exceptions to protect teams to be built for the tournament.
