Tournament rules

The competition and junior rules of the Finnish Icehockey Association(SJL) are followed in the tournament, with the following exceptions.

The jury of the tournament does not process referee reports, but they are directed to the disciplinarian of the respective team's area.

Tournament players, number and player lists

Players born in 2012 or later, individual Y players are allowed, but must be agreed separately before the tournament with the contact person (girl players can be born in 2010 or later). The number of players is not limited. Teams can enter an unlimited number of licensed players for the tournament, taking into account the level, who can fit into the team due to their age, however for each match max. 20+2 players.

Tournament format and tournament teams

The tournament is played as a AAA level series. 12 teams will participate in the tournament.

Starter set

The tournament is played as a simple series, where each team plays against each other once in its group. In the series, you get two (2) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw and zero (0) points for a loss.

In the series, the ranking of the teams is determined based on the points achieved.

Determination of starting series ranking

In the preliminary series, the ranking of the teams is determined as follows:

  • Score
  • Scores of head-to-head matches
  • Goal difference between mutual matches
  • Goals scored in mutual matches
  • The goal difference of the group matches
  • Goals scored in group matches
  • Penalty minutes in the group (the team with fewer penalty minutes ranks better)
  • Lot

Ranking matches

Based on the positions of the preliminary series, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and medal matches will be played according to the tournament schedule.

The winning goal race of the ranking matches

If the ranking match is tied at the end of the actual game time, the winning shot will be played as follows:

  • The winning goal contest is started with three (3) different players/teams, which the team coach informs the referee of the match immediately after the end of the playing time.
  • If the situation is still tied after three shots, the winning shots will be continued one pair of shots at a time with the "once over" principle. The match is decided when the other team's player succeeds in scoring and his partner does not.
  • The winning goal contest is started by the away team marked in the program.
  • Only the decisive goal is recorded in the final result of the match. The deciding goal is credited to the player who took the shot.

Match time

In the tournament, the match time is 2x15 minutes of effective playing time, the duration of the set break is 1 min. Total match time max. 45 min.

No additional time may be used.

The teams must be ready in good time before the match time indicated in the program near the rink with their equipment on ready to start the match. If the team does not arrive on the field according to the schedule, at most 5 minutes late, it will be judged to have lost 5-0.

Player list and jerseys

The final list of players must be announced to the officials 30 minutes before the team's match.

Players registered in registered teams can participate in the tournament. A player can represent only one team during the tournament. The exception is goalkeepers, who are allowed to represent several teams of the same club in the tournament.

In the match schedule, the team marked as the home team wears a dark jersey and the team marked as the away team wears a light jersey.

Referees

Helsinki´s ice hockey referee association (HJT ry) judges judge the games.

Penalties

The punishments are in accordance with the SJL's valid competition and special rules for U11 juniors and the IIHF rule book.

If the player receives a game penalty in the tournament and the player plays in the next game, if they deem it appropriate. The jury of the tournament can also increase the game penalty and exclude the player who received the penalty from the tournament. If a player receives two game penalties in a tournament, he is basically automatically excluded from the tournament. If there are very strong arguments against the ban, the jury can process the arguments and decide on the player's continuation in the tournament.

A match penalty for violence always automatically leads to a ban of one series match. The jury handles the case and decides on the continuation of the tournament for the player.

In the tournament, all major penalties are reported to SJL's disciplinary officer and the player is suspended until a representative of SJL with a decision-making power has processed the incident

Awards

The three best teams in the series will be awarded with medals and the winning team with trophies.

Insurance and first aid

Every player and official must have valid insurance in accordance with the rules of the SJL. The organizers of the tournament are not responsible for possible accidents of the participating teams. From the organizer's side, the tournament has a first aid service according to the scope of the event. In the lobby of the hall, in the dressing rooms and in the players' and officials' enclosures, there is contact information for the first aid.

Schedule changes

The tournament organizer has the right to change the schedule, duration and ice run of the matches if necessary. Any changes will be notified to the participating teams without delay.

Handling objections

The tournament Jury consists of the tournament manager and the judges who judged the match. The tournament manager has the final decision-making power in cases of disagreement. The objection must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of the end of the match. The objection fee is 100 euros, which will be returned if the objection is found to be justified.
