Tournament rules 

The tournament follows the SJL competition and junior rules with the following exceptions. 

The tournament jury does not process referee reports, but they are directed to the disciplinary officer of the team's region in question. 

Participation fee 

950€/game group (Liike on Lääke - sponsor clubs 850€/game group). A reservation fee of 250€/game group will be invoiced within two weeks of the accepted registration. The remaining 700 will be invoiced no later than 20.3.2025. The reservation fee will not be refunded if the team cancels its participation. If the team cancels its participation after 5.4.2025, the participation fees will not be refunded. 

Players 

Players born in 2012 or later (girl players can be born in 2011 or later). Possible over-aged players and over-aged teams must be agreed upon separately with the organizer. 

A player can only represent one team during the tournament weekend. 

Goalkeepers can be used in all teams of their own club participating in the tournament. 

Playing a goalkeeper in a placement match requires that the goalkeeper has played at least one match for the team in question in the preliminary round. 

Tournament format and tournament teams 

The tournament will be played as a AAA-level series. 

Preliminary round

The preliminary round will be played as a simple series, where each team in its group will play against each other once. In the series, two (2) points are awarded for a win, one (1) point for a draw and zero (0) points for a loss. 

The teams' placement in the series is determined based on the points achieved. 

Determining the preliminary league standings 

The teams’ positions in the preliminary league are determined as follows: 

  1. Points
  2. Points from head-to-head matches
  3. Goal difference from head-to-head matches
  4. Goals scored in head-to-head matches
  5. Goal difference from group matches
  6. Goals scored in group matches
  7. Penalty minutes in the group (the team with fewer penalty minutes will be ranked higher)
  8. Draw

Final matches 

Based on the preliminary league standings, the final matches will be played on Sunday according to the tournament schedule. 

Winning goal competition for placement matches 

  • If the placement match is tied after the end of regular playing time, a winning shot competition will be held as follows: 
  • The winning goal competition will start with three (3) different players/teams, who will be announced by the team coach to the match referee immediately after the end of playing time. 
  • If the situation is still tied after three shooters, the winning shots will continue one pair of shooters at a time on the “one shot off” principle. The match is decided when a player from the other team scores a goal and his/her partner does not. 
  • The away team starts the winning goal contest. 
  • Only the decisive goal is recorded in the final result of the match. The decisive goal is recorded for the player who took the shot. 

Match time 

  • Match time 3x15 minutes of effective playing time 
  • Total match time max. 90 minutes
  • Intermission 1 minute
  • Timeout not in use

Teams must be ready in good time before the match time marked on the schedule near the rink, wearing equipment, ready to start the match. If a team does not arrive on the field according to the schedule, it will be judged to have lost 5-0. 

Player list and jerseys 

The final player list must be notified to the officials 15 minutes before the team's match. 

The team marked as the home team in the match program will wear a dark jersey and the team marked as the away team will wear a light jersey. 

Penalties and major penalties 

Penalties are governed by the current SJL U13 Junior Competition and Special Rules and the IIHF Rulebook. Minor penalties two (2) minute duration. 

A player who is sentenced to a 5+20 minute game penalty is eligible to play in the next match. 

A player who is sentenced to a second 5+20 minute game penalty in the tournament automatically ends the player's tournament. 

Prizes 

The winner will receive a magnificent Liike on Lääke- trophy and the top three will receive medals. Other prizes are possible. 

Insurance and first aid 

Each player and official must have valid insurance in accordance with the SJL rules. The tournament organizers are not responsible for any accidents that may occur to the participating teams. The organizer will provide a first aid service at the tournament, depending on the scope of the event. There are first aid contact information in the hall lobby, changing rooms and player and official boxes. 

Schedule changes 

The tournament organizer has the right to change the league system, match schedule, duration and ice time if necessary. Any changes will be notified to the participating teams immediately. 

Handling of protests 

The tournament jury consists of the tournament manager and two representatives of the tournament organization. The tournament manager acts as the chairman and has the final say in disputes. Protests must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of the end of the match. The protest fee is 300 euros, which will be refunded if the protest is found to be justified.
