Tournament Rules

The tournament follows the Finnish Hockey Leagues standard E-junior rules, supplemented by the specific rules set out here. Games are played in three levels: AAA (Matinkylä), AA (Espoonlahti) and A (Leppävaara). Each level has 16 teams.

 

Game Program:

AAA and AA levels:

Teams are divided into four sets of four teams. In the 1st round, all teams play one game against each other. After the 1st round, the teams are divided into two continuaton rounds (higher and lower 2nd round), each playing one game against each other. The placement game continue as following: winners of the upper 2nd round will play the finals, the 2nd place holders bronze, 3rd ones 5-6, and 4th ones 7-8. The same applies with the lower 2nd round, the winners of the lower sequel series play between 9-10, 2nd place holders 11-12, 3rd ones 13-14, and 4th ones 15-16.

Level A:

Teams are divided into two sets of seven teams. In the 1st round, all teams play one game against each other. After the 1st round, the placement games are played so that the 1st teams of each set play from positions 1-2, 2nd teams of each set play from positions 3-4, 3rd teams of each set play from positions 5-6, 4th teams of each set play from positions 7-8, 5th teams of each set play from positions 9-10, 6th teams of each set play from positions 11-12, and 7th teams of each set play from positions 13-14.

 

Score:

The team receives 2 points for winning the game, tie 1 and loss 0. With two or more teams in the draw, the order of the teams in the same points will be settled as follows:

 

Determination of order

Tie in standings are determined by the following rules set by the tournament organizer:

1) Score

2) The goal difference between the own group games

3) Goals made by own group games

4) Points for mutual games

5) The goal difference between the goals of the mutual game

6) Goals made by mutual game

7) Least penalties

8) Draw

Games from the 1st round and the follow-up rounds may end on an tie. Based on the 2nd round standings, the teams are determined for 3rd round games (follow http://www.gameresultsonline.com/bjr-07/kajon-taksi-turnaus/ pages)

 

Shootout for 3rd round games (placement games):

At the end of the placement game being tied, right after the actual game time, the tournament will be resumed immediately. The competition rules of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association will be used in the shootout with the following exceptions. The shootout starts with the guest team marked in the schedule. First, three shooters will be named for each of the two teams in the shootout. If the result after three pairs of players is still tied, continue on "one by one" on the principle of a couple at a time. The first team shooting is the home team. The same player cannot shoot twice before all players in the team have tried at least once. The match will be resolved when the other team's player succeeds in the goal and the pair does not.

 

Game Duration:

The duration of the game is 2x18min for an effective playing time, however, at most 55 minutes from the start of the game in the program. If the tournament schedule is delayed for some reason, the total playing time can be shortened, but at its lowest to 50 minutes. The official time of the tournament is the time indicated by the clock on the hall wall. Team must be ready 5 min before the start of the game and the game is started immediately after the icing and the re-placing of the goals. The tournament is played with Flying Shifts and no timeout is allowed. Celebration of a goal in the field is only allowed for the line in the ice.

 

Abandonment:

If the team does not arrive on schedule or does not finish the game, it will be ordered to lose that game 5 - 0. The delay time is 3 minutes after the scheduled start time.

 

Penalties:

According to the Finnish Ice Hockey Association Competition and Junior Rules.

 

Exchanging pennants:

The captains of the teams change the pennants at the beginning of the game and shake the judges hands in front of the clerks station before the start of the game.

 

Playing, player lists and protocols:

The tournament aims to equal playing times in accordance with SJL's junior rules. Player lists must be submitted electronically in advance by 1.4.2019. The roster must be reported to the tournament office at least 60 min. before the start of the game if it differs from the list given to tournament organizers in advance. The protocols for games will be delivered either retrospectively to team leaders can find them on-line.

 

Right to participate and play in different teams:

Only players registered to registered teams can participate in the tournament. A field player can only represent his club in one team participating in the tournament.

Goalkeepers can play their own club in all the teams participating in the tournament. If only one goalkeeper has been assigned to a team, the team may borrow from the other team in the event of an injury or illness. To play a goalkeeper in an placement game, the goalkeeper must have played. at least one game in the team.

 

Judiciary:

The judges of the tournament are the official SJL judges and the each game has two judges.

 

Tournament jury:

The tournament jury consists of a tournament manager(s) and a judge who has judged the game. Objections must be submitted in writing at the latest 10 minutes after the end of the game. The protest fee is 150 EUR, which need to be paid in cash. The amount will be returned to the protesting team if the jury accepts the objection.

 

Accidents and player insurance:

The organizers have not insured the players and are not responsible for any accidents or injuries that may occur to the players. All players and agents participating in the tournament must be insured under the SJL rules. The first aid bulletin is published on the tournament website. The organizer is not responsible for any theft that may occur during the tournament.

 

Jerseys:

The home team marked in the game program plays in dark jerseys and the team marked as a guest team in the light jerseys. If the team does not have one pair of shirts at their disposal, the team will match the shirts used with the opponent well in advance of the game.

 

Prizes:

The winner of each series will be rewarded with a trophy and the top three teams will be awarded medals (max. 18 per team). After the tournament, each team will be rewarded with the team's MVP player.
